Initial agreement on Caspian seabed delimitation reached in Tehran

An initial agreement on the delimitation of the Caspian seabed and exploitation of its biological resources has been reached at the Tehran meeting of the ad hoc working group for drafting a convention on the Caspian Sea’s legal status, APA citied the Iran’s Foreign Ministry as saying on Oct. 26.

The other agreement reached has to do with holding discussions on items of the draft convention, said the Iranian ministry.

Deputy foreign ministers of Caspian littoral states, attending the meeting, also discussed a number of maritime and transit issues, etc. and agreed on accelerating the process of developing the documents to be signed at the Kazakhstan summit of presidents.

The next meeting of the working group is scheduled to be held in the Turkmen capital of Ashgabat.
