Lithuania seeks to boost cooperation with Azerbaijan

Lithuania is interested in developing cooperation with Azerbaijan in all areas, new Lithuania Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevi?ius said at a meeting with Azerbaijani Ambassador Hasan Mammadzade, Azerbaijani diplomatic mission in Lithuania said on Tuesday.

By expressing satisfaction with the dynamic development of relations between the two countries, Butkevi?ius stressed the great potential for their development.

Congratulating the Prime Minister on his appointment, Mammadzade stressed that good political and economic relations existing between the two countries will contribute to cooperation in all areas, including in the field of mutual investments, the economy and trade.

Mammadzade also informed the Prime Minister about the country’s leading position in the region, despite the global crisis.

The sides discussed future activities of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation and the issue of organising mutual visits at various levels.

Lithuanian Prime Minister Butkevi?ius expressed his desire to visit Azerbaijan early next year.
