Sarkozy: “If Europe does not change quickly enough, global history will be written without Europe”

The euro crisis can all but eliminate Europe as a world player without immediate, far-reaching and fundamental changes, French President Nicolas Sarkozy said, APA reports citing Associated Press.

“The world will not wait for Europe,” he said in a nationally televised speech from the Mediterranean port of Toulon. “If Europe does not change quickly enough, global history will be written without Europe.”

By “quickly enough,” he meant Europe would “have to make crucial choices in the next few weeks” to avoid being “swept away” by the crisis, he said.
