Azerbaijan will assist Georgia to provide mine action in its territory being scene of military operations in August, Director General of Azerbaijan National Agency of Mine Action (ANAMA) Nazim Ismayilov told APA exclusively.
Ismayilov said Georgia asked Azerbaijan for assistance because it had no specialized agency for mine action. “We submitted our proposals on the forms of assistance to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government. Our proposals are discussed between the governments of both countries and we expected to receive appropriate orders in the near futureâ€.
Ismayilov said ANAMA could train field engineers of Georgia, who could be provided with the necessary equipments and involved in mine actions. Depending on the government’s wish, it is not ruled out that ANAMA engineers will be involved in mine actions in the Georgian territory.
