AZERBAIJAN AND GEORGIA SIGN 5-YEAR GAS CONTRACT


AZERBAIJAN AND GEORGIA SIGN 5-YEAR GAS CONTRACTA 5-year contract was signed for exportation of Azerbaijani gas to Georgia, APA reports quoting Interfax agency.

Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili said the contract would provide 80 per cent of the country’s gas needs. He said there wouldn’t be changes in gas price for the population.
SOCAR will carry out exportation of natural gas to Georgia. Currently the SOCAR delivers 1.5 million cubic meters of natural gas p/d to this country. One million c/m gas is exported to Georgia from Azerbaijan’s Shahdeniz field via Southern Caucasian gas pipeline.

Azerbaijan and Georgia signed the gas contract for 2008 in April. According to the document the SOCAR should send 600 million c/m gas to Georgia.
